Raindance Film Festival awards ‘Winners’

The 30th edition of the Raindance Film Festival has awarded the feature film ‘Winners’ directed by Iranian-British filmmaker Hassan Nazer.

The Persian-language film was named the Best UK Feature.

‘Winners’ was shot entirely in Iran.

“In a small provincial town in Iran, the children work hard to support their families. One day nine-year-old Yahya and his friend find a precious statue. Sharing a passion for cinema, Yahya’s boss decides to help them find the owner,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The Raindance Film Festival is “the largest independent film festival in the UK”, website of the event reads.

The festival is officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences USA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the British Independent Film Awards.
